This reminds me of a trip to Germany taken by my girlfriend several years ago. She returned with tales of gore and dreadful statues she'd seen at the outskirts of several towns.
Being Christian she particularly noticed all depictions of Jesus as suffering in agony. Never once saw Him smiling or serene. It was all very depressing to her. Wonder if it was during one of their "once-every-5-years" things.
